Summary/Abstract: The article highlights the performances of the E-3A, which is the first NATO-run multinational flight unit, and has the mission to carry out all surveillance and combat activities specified by the NAEW & C Force Command on behalf of SAUCER. The communications and computer system on board this aircraft responds to the operational requirements formulated for an efficient and rapid information flow. The architecture of this operational system is designed on NATO-compatible standards at operational, technical and system level.
