Summary/Abstract: The present study introduces us to the history of the philanthropic work of the Lutheran Church from Germany. Today, one of the most dynamic Churches regarding philanthropy, the Lutheran Church has already a tradition of over three centuries in this sacred step. This study demonstrates that the ardor of faith opens people’s hearts, draws them together and unites them in a holy work, that of helping the person who is suffering. The gallery of the faces of some philanthropist ministers and promoters or philanthropy, as well as elements of monography from the history of a philanthropic institution from Germany, offers to the Romanian Orthodox social theology possible models of good practice.
