Summary/Abstract: This is the author’s personal recollection of the parts of life, encounters and occa sional mutual work with the Serbian literary critic Borislav Mihajlovic Mihiz (1922–1997). While he was a prominent critic of the Belgrade magazine NIN, Mihajlovic renewed journalistic impressionistic tradition in the Serbian literature with his talent and he was its last offshoot. The essay talks about common friends in public and political activities of Serbian intelligence, cooperation in the opposition Committee for the defense of freedom of thought and expression (1982–1990), in the illegal Privy Council of the exiled Yugosla vian prince Aleksandar Karađorđević and about democratic initiatives of Serbian intellec tuals, which brought about the fall of communism in Serbia in 2000.
