Summary/Abstract: The text analyses Marcus Deacon’s account concerning endowments of Constantinopolitan court for the bishoprics in Palestine. The author referring to bequeathing sums of gold as well as the information on unspecified fiscal privileges allegedly granted by the empress Eudoxia to the bishoprics in Palestinian Gaza and Caesarea Maritima. The passage concerning the privileges is most probably an interpolation introduced to the Vita Porphyrii episcopi gazensis in sixth century (probably in the time of Justinian the Great), while a majority of data concerns sums of money (gold pieces, gold solidi) have, in my opinion, a topical character. The analyzed reports, despite a certain lack of precision, are a valuable source of historical knowledge.
