Summary/Abstract: Rural tourism plays an important role in the sustainable rural development model. The importance of the regions which have tourism characteristic in rural development is high for the economies of countries and their possible effects on sustainable development cannot be excluded. To the forefront with natural beauty, historical richness, cultural mosaic, rural tourism can play a major role in the economy of the country such as Turkey, Tourist in this respect, Turkey has the added value of values revealed to be the highest in the tourism sector and undeniable importance of adaptation to changes in consumer behavior. At this point, the importance given to sea, sand, sun tourism, alternative tourism areas should be considered. The aim of the study is to determine the tourism value of Elmalı district with the view of local people. In the rural development dimension of the district, rural tourism value reveals the importance of the study. Data were collected from 484 participants by face-to-face questionnaire method and analyzed by reliability, frequency and chi-square test in the appropriate statistical program. After all; It has been determined that Ömer Paşa Mosque and Tomb is the most important one of the cultural heritage values of Elmalı. The local people think that the development of tourism will be positively affected by the preservation of cultural heritage. With the development of tourism, local people think that preservation of cultural heritage will be positively affected, as well as favoring women's employment in tourism and supporting tourism activities. Significant relationships were found between the socio-demographic characteristics of the participants and the thoughts of tourism development and tourism.
