Summary/Abstract: The case study on the affective perception of sound is introduced through audio technology and involves emotion and musical audition. We used an alternate procedure, called the progressive exposure method. The experiment involves the test subjects and listening to the first part of Sonata Op. 31, No. 2, in D minor, composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Thus, in a group of 10 students of the Faculty of Music in Brasov, the first part of this sonata was heard, using a professional computer and a high quality audio system. The work was divided into passages, similar with respect to duration, and the subjects had to describe their emotions and feelings through the given questionnaires. This method was chosen in order to combine the classic and the continuous paradigm, in which there are a number of impediments, which will be avoided by the progressive exposure method.
