Summary/Abstract: An acquittal terminates the proceedings against the accused, declaring him or her not guilty of the charges brought by the Prosecution. After an acquittal delivered by an international court or tribunal, the acquitted individuals may have to face domestic proceedings in their country of residence or in foreign countries. Such a situation entails legal consequences for the targeted persons. Amongst these consequences, extradition proceedings and the respect of the Non bis in idem principle are explored through this essay, taking the Orić case in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a working illustration.
