Summary/Abstract: It is shown that the balanced development of local food markets in the conditions of existing intermunicipal socio-economic differences is a condition for ensuring the physical and economic accessibility of food products for the population of the region. The concept of "spatial potential for the development of local food markets" is proposed and its characteristics are given. The possibility of using a matrix tool for the strategic analysis of the development of local food markets in the region is substantiated. A matrix of spatial differentiation and pathways of the strategic development of local food markets of the region has been developed. The pathways of the strategic development of the markets are defined as applied to the research area.
