Summary/Abstract: In this article, the authors carried out a research on a typical linear shallow foundation thermal bridge of class A+ residential building, based on the principles of energy and economic efficiency. The thermodynamic study showed that the most economical way to heat the shallow foundation of a A + class residential building is with a continuous insulation thickness of 250 mm EPS100 (V2 position). In this position the linear foundation thermal bridge is equal to 0.354 W/(mK). The annual cost per 1 meter of this connection is 2.21 €/m. The simple payback period is 3.9 years. By heating the foundation with extruded polystyrene foam panels (from the inside of the building) is the worst option, and the payback can reach 210 years.
