Summary/Abstract: At the beginning of the 20th century, and especially after the First World War, there were substantial changes related to maritime transport, fisheries, production and trade in agricultural products. From a means of survival and livelihood these activities become characteristic and dominate the overall appearance of the North- East Black Sea coast. In a managerial aspect there is a gradual transition from casual and temporary communities to cooperatives and associations that bring together numerous and well organized members. Despite the burdens of the economic crisis and wars from the beginning of the last century, these economic structures combine the specifics of the Bulgarian traditions and the positive influence of the European experience and the relevant modern analogues.
