Summary/Abstract: The essay explores the broad reconfiguration in thecontinental philosophy of the 20th century of the Kantian insight into the category of thesublime. Aknowledging that the issue is in different ways incorporated in the broadertheme of the event, it strives to demonstrate that this export is by no means based solelyon mere analogy, but entails an explicit, or implicit reworking of the Kantian analytic.For this purpose the paper investigates two separate cases, that of Lyotard and Kracauer.
