Summary/Abstract: The paper gives an overview of the grammar of parallel Hungarian and English focus phenomena and outlines an account in the framework of Lexical-Functional Grammar (LFG). Focus constructions are subject to variation with respect to their grammatical properties both within and across the two languages. The LFG framework is well-suited to represent this variation in a systematic way and, at the same time, to capture at the level of information-structure the shared contribution that various focus constructions make.
