Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to show how Eugen Todoran has applied the concept of “myth” to Mihai Eminescu’s and Lucian Blaga’s literary works, at the intersection of phenomenological critique with Gilbert Durand’s interpretations. We are dealing, by all means, with a process of going beyond literary hermeneutics and opening up toward an anthropological perspective, similar to Mircea Eliade’s approach to the religious phenomenon, within the phenomenological paradigm. Our hypothesis is that, in a context that exceeds the scope of literature, the relations between “literary truth” and “ontological truth” undergo a radical change, just like the relations between truth, fiction and imagination/imaginal. All this leads to the reconfiguration of a post-positivist paradigm, which Eugen Todoran has never theorised, nor described in these terms. But the role of hermeneutics becomes even more important when, in addition to unravelling less obvious meanings, it also looks into methodological consequences.
