Summary/Abstract: King Arthur is a fascinating character who appeared in an impressive number of films. In what primary sources King Arthur appeared first? Why was King Arthur chosen? Why did the image of King Arthur suffer so many changes over time? These are the questions that I will try to answer in this study. I analyzed three recent films about the medieval king: King Arthur (2004, dir. Antoine Fuqua), Shrek the Third (2007, dir. Chris Miller) and Avalon High (2010, r. Stuart Gillard).
