Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the evolution of the principle of equality and its incorporation into the contemporary laws. An interdisciplinary approach has been used. Equality is dealt with through the prism of constitutional and international law, legal sociology, philosophy, and others. The main concepts about equality are considered: formal, substantive and real. The equality-non-discrimination relation has been drawn out.
