Summary/Abstract: The article, stemming from a famous Pomponian passage, deals with the ius dicere of magistrates in the criminal field in the first fifty years of the Roman republic, identifying its boundaries and contents in the light of existing relationships with the power of the Centuriate Assembly to impose capital punishments.
