Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of a study researching the influence that Polish and French languages have on the process of studying Italian by Polish students. The study was carried out at the University of Lodz at the Institute of Roman Philology. The analysed sample includes 600 papers (essays) written by Roman Philology students who participated in a 120-hour course of Italian. The first part presents the analysis of errors in Italian language, which, according to the author, can be attributed to the interference from Polish and French languages. The second part contains the reflection on the issue of the improvement of the learning process of Polish students studying Italian as well as a few suggestions for therapeutic exercises.
