Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between managers’ education and pay level which is poorly explored in the Polish literature. The analysis was based on data from the National Salaries Survey 2015 conducted among three groups of managers: managers of teams up to 10 people (N = 15241), managers of teams over 10 people (N = 9044) and directors (N = 6001). Multiple regression analysis revealed that the level of formal education is positively related to the salary level in each of the three groups of managers. The level of proficiency in English language also was a strong predictor of salary level and proficiency in German language was a weak predictor of salary level. Interestingly, in the group of directors postgraduate studies other than MBA were negatively related to pay level but completing MBA studies was a positive predictor of salary. In contrast, among the managers of small and large teams completing postgraduate program other than MBA and MBA positively predicts salary level. According to our knowledge, this study is a first attempt to investigate a relationship between education and salary level among Polish managers and presented findings seem to falsify common in Polish society belief that education level is not related to pay level.
