Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the issue of preserving the expressive power of metaphor in translation of literary texts into Latvian. The author conducts a comparative stylistic analysis the metaphors used to describe the characters of the parents in Barack Obama’s autobiography “Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance” and its Latvian translation.
