Summary/Abstract: Cities compete over tourists and investors. Their rivalry is also focused on maintaining the amount of current residents. Whether or not they succeed depends among others upon the attractiveness of public spaces and the quality of services offered to the public. Efficient use of maintenance expenditure on the sufficiently large amounts of urban greenery has a positive effect on both development of medium-sized cities and the quality of life of their inhabitants.
