Summary/Abstract: The author of the study analyses in detail the stonemason and stone carving ornaments commissioned by the bishop of Olomouc, Stanislav Thurzo, and by his brother, the bishop of Wrocław, Jan Thurzo. The key monuments are the portal of Stanislav’s bishop residence in Olomouc from 1514 and the portal of the sacristy of The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Wrocław commissioned by Jan Thurzo. The author established the similarities in the style of both monuments since both are characterized by a mix of gothic and early renaissance forms which creates so-called mixed style. In the study, the author discusses culturally-historical reasons, which lead Stanislav and Jan Thurzo to use an early application of renaissance forms in their buildings, among others even in the chateau in Kroměříž, Jánský Vrch and Javorník in Silesia, and in the Chapel of St. Ann in the Church of St. James in Nysa.
