Determinants and functions of management methods in the aspect of modern management methodology

Summary/Abstract: This theoretical study attempts to supplement, from the perspective of the requirements of contemporary management methodology, the achievements of the theory of management methods with a set of determinants of their selection and their perceived place and functions in the organizational management process. The introduction presents the rationale for the choice of the topic and the main objectives of the study which are: firstly presenting requirements of a modern approach to management and types of determinants which should be taken into account when choosing management methods according to the rules of modern management methodology, and secondly showing the place and function of management methods in spheres covered by the management methodology and presentation of the proposed management methods aimed at developing non-material resources of the organization and recognized as a specific complement to the dominant set of methods. The part of the study containing materials and methods describes the main approaches to management, directions of their evolution, postulated rules of good management and discussion on management methods. In terms of results and discussions, the types of determinants of management methods from the epistemological, practical-conceptual and practical spheres are presented, and their place and functions are recognized in the postulated management methodology. In the conclusions, based on the conducted analysis, the proposed management methods focused on the development of non-material resources, which on the one hand form the basis for the competitiveness of modern organizations, on the other hand may complement the existing set of management methods.
