Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to attempt to analyze the importance of geothermal energy in combating the energy poverty of local communities, where geothermal resources have been treated as an important component of the country’s energy security defense strategy in the non-military dimension. This goal the author want to achieve, by showing: • An attempt to define the phenomenon of energy poverty; • The phenomenon of energy poverty in Poland; • That geothermal energy can be a defense strategy for energy poverty. • The analytic-synthetic test method was applied to present the problem more thoroughly.
