Summary/Abstract: The article aims at identifying the level of FDI concentration among Polish regions and areas of its highest contribution in regional economies. The data used in the study were obtained from the Local Data Bank, supervised by the Central Statistical Office in Poland. The Herfindahl-Hirschman Index was used to evaluate the role of FDI in regional economies as well as the percentage contribution of foreign-owned entities in selected areas of the economy. The obtained results show that the majority of registered FDI is located in regions: mazowieckie, zachodniopomorskie, dolnośląskie, lubuskie, wielkopolskie. The lowest number of FDI is observed in the eastern regions: podlaskie, warmińsko-mazurskie, świętokrzyskie. Taking into consideration the role of FDI in capital formation, owned capital and the number of employed, the highest FDI attraction was considered in: mazowieckie, wielkopolskie, dolnośląskie, whereas the lowest in: podlaskie, warmińsko-mazurskie and lubelskie.
