Summary/Abstract: Apart from the general economic cycles, market economies are characterized by their specific cycles which also include bank cycles. Fluctuations whose sequence over time are created by credit bank are absolute or/and relative changes in the activity of banks, manifested in the form of oscillations in the supply of money, bank credits granted for investment or consumption purposes. The aim of this article is to analyze the morphology and influence of general business cycles on changes of activity of central and commercial banks and returnable relation between bank activity and business cycles. The paper consists of two parts. The first one presents theoretical hypothesis connected with analyzed relations. The second part contains the results of empirical analysis of morphology of analysed cycles which were estimated in the Polish economy.
