Summary/Abstract: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the article is to present, on the example of already existing intervention programs, the significance for the well being of a child of multidimensional prevention of difficulties resulting from deficits in the development of narrative competence. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research problem is: What are the goals and strategies of the support of the development of narrative competence? The method of the analysis and synthesis of the literature has been used. THE PROCES OF ARGUMENTATION: The article presents the essence and consequences of disorders in the development of the narrative competence. Particular elements of the intervention process were indicated and described: including its participants, specific areas of narrative competence and the effectiveness together with its determinants of these interventions. RESEARCH RESULTS: Proper development in the sphere of narrative competence is an important factor influencing child’s well being. There are a number of possibilities to support the development in its various areas. The factors conditioning the effectiveness of narrative interventions are: duration, involvement and context. The family is particularly well suited to support narrative development of children. CONSULSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The analyzes show that social awareness of the importance of proper development in the field of narrative competence increases, nevertheless, there is still undeveloped space associated with the education of teachers and parents about the possibility of narrative interventions.
