Summary/Abstract: One of the foundations guaranteeing the efficient operation of courts in the Commonwealth of Poland and Lithuania was adherence to the principles related to the organisation of court registers. The author presents issues related to the registers based on a study of resolutions of the Permanent Council. The source documentation gathered made it possible to investigate the questions most frequently submitted by applicants and the decisions that the Council made in their case. Moreover, the cases quoted in the resolutions provide an interesting picture of the attitude of the noble community towards the problem of common and codified law in the second half of the 18th century.
