Summary/Abstract: The e-commerce sales value is still growing. Most of the products are bought by local customers. The Internet, however, allows customers to purchase abroad, while commerce companies can sell products to customers from other countries. Such transactions are referred to as cross-border e-commerce. This is a way for e-tailers to increase sales but it is also a source of more potential competitors. On the one hand, customers benefit from access to a larger range of products and lower prices, and, on the other hand, they often have to pay more for a delivery and wait longer for the ordered product. The aim of this article is to present the characteristics, benefits and limitations of cross-border e-commerce.
