Summary/Abstract: Food fraud is illegal intentional deception for economic gain using food. Growing susceptibility of food supply chain to food fraud implicates numerous actions undertaken worldwide which are focused on prevention and vulnerability reduction or elimination (including the development of rapid exchange of information, regulatory activities and industry standards). Horsemeat scandal was a wake-up call for European Commission which developed The EU Food Fraud Network and the System for Administrative Assistance & Food Fraud to strengthen cooperation between the Member States in preventing and mitigating cross-border fraudulent practices in the food and feed chain. The aim of the article is to analyze and assess functioning of the system and to collate the AAC & EU FFN system and the RASFF system. The analyses are based on recent EC field reports and critical literature review.
