Summary/Abstract: This study deals with the life and activity of a lawyer, Zosim Chirtop, remarkable legal personality from Transylvania. He had a very good intellectual training, finishing his secondary education in Sibiu. Later, with the financial aid of Gojdu Foundation, Chirtop chose to study law in Cluj (1887-1891). In 1893, he became doctor in law at the University of Cluj. Subsequently, Zosim Chirtop established a law firm in Câmpeni. He was very active in Romanian national movement from Transylvania, fighting with all legal means for the rights of his countrymen. Zosim Chirtop participated in the Great Union, representing the electoral circle of Trascău from Turda-Arieş county. After this moment, The Ruling Council of Transylvania appointed him prefect of Turda-Arieş county, being the first Romanian to hold this position. In the interwar period, between 1928 and 1931, Zosim Chirtop was senator in the Romanian Parliament.
