Summary/Abstract: Colonisation has always been a major theme in Cameroonian literature. Since the1950s, pioneering writers like Mongo Béti or Ferdinand Oyono made a writing project of the French colonial period in Cameroon. In works of veritable denunciation literature, these authors revolted against colonisation. After achieving independence, several writers, of one language or another, have participated in recalling colonisation. Thus, the memory of colonisation in Came roonian literature has taken various forms. This article focuses on the collective memory of French and German colonisation in Cameroon, as presented in two texts. As regards colonial violence and the reification of national heroes, Henri-Richard Manga and Paul Tchakouté revisit in a post-colonial context a chapter of the history of Cameroon and decide to overcome forgetfulness through fiction. Moreover, they try to stimulate people not only to remember the colonial system that made an “object” of the Cameroonian sub ject, but also to reconcile with the main figures of the Cameroonian history.
