This syndrome may occur in people who work with others in a specific manner. The professions exposed to occupational burnout include nurses who experience, on a daily basis, the factors leading to occupational burnout. In the changing reality of the nursing profession, there have been many occurrences that affect the entirety of their work and work performance itself. Changes related to the age of nurses, significant drop in their number and organisational shortcomings have an impact on their physical and psychical condition. The purpose of the pilot study was to identify factors taking into consideration the key issue related to seniority, manner of work performance and work organisation affecting the occurrence of occupational burnout. The study showed that nurses experience occupational burnout symptoms in the context of work organisation, excess of work and bureaucratic restrictions affecting their contacts with patients.
