Summary/Abstract: A Hungarian Translation of the Old English elegy Wulf and Eadwacer The article presents one of the most questioned poems of the Anglo-Saxon corpus, known as Wulf and Eadwacer. The first part of the text is about basic information such as the possible age, background and origins of the poem, as well as its supposed connection to other medieval pieces of literature. Then in the next few paragraphs I talk about the difficulties that a translator has to face during the process of creating a literary translation this text or any other alliterative poem from Old English to Hungarian. The second part is the actual line-by-line translation of the elegy. I inserted additional notes, commentaries and footnotes wherever I found it necessary.
