Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to identify and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of crowdfunding as an unconventional form of financing business projects, as well as the opportunities and threats that result from its use. In the beginning, the essence of crowdfundig was presented. Then, advantages and disadvantages of crowdfunding as a source of funding were described. The next part shows the chances and risks of this form of financing. The article uses selected elements of SWOT analysis, a descriptive method based on synthetic analysis of literature on crowdfunding, legislation, current press and internet articles, reports and analyses, method of observation of crowdfunding phenomenon. The study was exploratory and was based on data obtained mainly from crowdfunding portals and case studies.
