Summary/Abstract: The present paper is part of a series of publications on the lexis denoting realia of medieval Bulgarian material culture and is based on language data as preserved in written sources from the 10th to the 14th century. What is commented upon are those terms related to literary activity, which were attested in medieval Slavic manuscripts, namely the names of: the materials and tools needed for writing, the parts of a book and the types of books as well as the types of handwriting. Also studied are the designations of both people involved in literary activity and places for storing books. Finally, conclusions are drawn on various syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations in the analysed thematic group: synonymy, polysemy and homonymy. Besides, some peculiarities of the word borrowings are discussed together with the further development of the unity in the history of language.
