Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the text of Matthew's Gospel as it is present in Croatian glagolitic medieval breviaries in form of incipits of Gospel readings. Whole readings are contained in the Missal. The Gospel text from Croatian glagolitic breviaries and missals are of the same primary textological source, so that while looking for the original slavic text we have to study them together. Based on a comparison with the oldest Old Church Slavonic translation of the Gospel (by the Aleksejev´s edition) we conclude that the Old Church Slavonic translation, very likely in it´s Preslav redaction, was used during the process of making up the Croat glagolitic liturgical books - missal and breviary.
