Summary/Abstract: Time is more and more important element of the project triangle. Timeliness, understood as the realization of the project within the given time is a parameter that should be subject to particular scrutiny. The risk of delayed implementation of the project should be detected as soon as possible. Methods such as earned value allow to respond to these challenges but in some organizations it may be difficult to implement because of its complexity, so alternative indicator should be defined. Author suggested new indicator – which is simple and easy to implement. The proposed TW index, which is calculated as the ratio of tasks actually completed (TAF) to those which were to be completed (TPF), allows you to quickly assess if the timeliness of the project is at stake. Values from 0 to 100% should lead the project manager to postpone the closing date to a later date or to replan the project, to keep the originally established date of completion. This indicator was implemented in the organization and verification and validation have confirmed its usefulness in practice. According to pilot studies it was found that the time required for its implementation is relatively short, which increases its attractiveness.
