The Role of the Police in Shaping Local Security on the Example of the Poviat and the City of Kielce

Summary/Abstract: Safety is a basic need in the life of every human being. The guarantor of security in the collective and individual dimension is the state, which through the creation of appropriate administration should meet its needs. Detailed security objectives are protection of life, health, personal rights, property, ensuring normal conditions of state bodies, social and private organizations, as well as creating appropriate conditions for intercourse between people on various levels, including ensuring proper working and rest conditions. In Kielce in 2017, local preventive actions were taken under the „Safe Świętokrzyskie” and „Safer Together” programs. Activities were carried out by police officers of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Kielce and Police Stations within its structure. The whole of the considerations was preceded by a review of the provisions of national law and the analysis of the national literature on the subject. The article uses literature and documentation available at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Kielce, concerning the diagnosis and implementation of prevention projects for the benefit of the local community of Kielce.
