Summary/Abstract: Police forces are responsible for security and public order, therefore, they play a special role in the state security system. The article touches on the issue of local crime prevention with the use of community policing philosophy according to which the police is responsible for protecting the society and the public order cooperating with local community. At present, Polish Police have noticed the importance of society in preventing and fighting crime. The example is a National Map of Security Threats – an interactive tool where inhabitants can anonymously report an information about threats appearing in their neighbourhood forcing appropriate service to react which brings the Police closer to the citizens. Cooperation with external entities have an enormous influence on implementation of the statutory tasks of the Police Forces in the field of ensuring security and public order of the state The evaluation of this solution shows a wide range of the possibilities of its application, not only as a platforms of information exchange about threats between residents and the Police.
