Summary/Abstract: In large companies, there are many subsystems which determine their market success. Coordinating all activities often requires complex and expensive solutions such as information technology, lean management, TQM and SIX SIGMA. In small enterprises there is no room for such solutions due to their high implementation costs as well as due to the usually lower level of employee competences. The aim of the paper is to assess the impact of the entrepreneurial attitude of the owner, the development of employees’ competences and the strength of their motivation on the efficiency of the company’s operations in the SMEs’ market. The paper analyses the example of a confectionery company.
