Summary/Abstract: It is widely believed that the press, in particular printed press, is “dying”. This, however, is untrue. The scope of readership has never been so great. The publishing sector is, however, undergoing certain changes. New channels of communication are appearing, and the behaviour of recipients changes as well: they are now more likely to seek out digital versions. The press is considered by consumers to be the most valuable source of information. Readers are more and more inclined to read press content on new devices, but rather do not want to pay for it. The appearance of new media outlets has had negative outcomes as well; for instance the increase of enterprises which base their business model on the distribution of content financed by publishers. From this use publishers do not get any remuneration or compensation. Piracy has never been so widespread, nor has the law been so widely “overinterpreted” and abused in order to legitimise those sorts of actions.
