Summary/Abstract: The article presents demographic determinants of consumption in relation to the elderly. The premise of the Polish society on the market of goods and services includes the aging process of the population, increasing consumer awareness of the elderly and increasing the activity of seniors. The topic was elaborated on the basis of data from the Central Statistical Office. The subject of this article are the elderly who are beginning to dominate the consumer segment. On the basis of CSO forecasts, about 20% of the Polish population will in 2050 be elderly people. These changes are triggering new strategies by manufacturers who have so far not seriously treated seniors as consumers.
