Summary/Abstract: A family business is the most frequent type of organization in most economies and its successions are complex processes that often condition the continuity together with a high incidence in the worker’s lack of commitment and loyalty. A decisive moment is the withdrawal of the leader and the way in which he moves to the second generation. The object of the study was to analyze the process of succession in the family business considering the incorporation of new members, the vision of the young family members of the company, as well as their aspirations, their relations with other members and the difficulties they face. The research was made with a qualitative approach, collecting data with the interview and observation. The results show that the succession in a family service business is from father to son to guarantee its permanence and economic stability although the process is slow since it is necessary to train the son and strengthen transition strategies; concluding that for the succession it is necessary to restructure the areas by professionalizing their management and planning processes, establishing mechanisms of control and technical training, emphasizing the institutionalization of values throughout the work team.
