Summary/Abstract: Safety sciences and management sciences identity are currently discussed. Specialists in both fields use the same phrase: “safety management.” The issues of safety management feature a special practical dimension, as they address real problems related to the possible occurrence of hazards. The objective of this paper is the determination of the scope of the “safety management” term. The departure point is the description of the terms “management” and “safety” based on the analysis of scientific grounds. In particular, the paradigms of both scientific disciplines are taken into account. An attempt has been made to determine common content resulting from the scientific grounds related to social sciences. With the epistemological issues as the origin, the basic methodological aspects have been defined.
