Summary/Abstract: The article presents a study concerning circumstances that led to the opening of the political market of the Czech Republic, which in the beginning of the 21st century seemed to be closed on the supply side. There were two groups of reasons behind the opening: the global one and the specific to the Czech Republic. The aim of the article is to single out the latter that can be a base to make comparisons with cases of other countries of the region, including Poland. Moreover, the text sums up crucial processes and developments which form political history of the 21st century Czechia.
