Summary/Abstract: The recent ICTY acquittal of former Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, accused of war crimes against Serb civilians, provoked vehement outcry by the official Belgrade and Serbian public. President of the Republic demanded in his public statement that the Tribunal should reconsider its decision, while the prime minister Kostunica went a step further, not only claiming that Haradinaj's acquittal was "another proof that the ICTY is a political tribunal", but also that "Serbia will never assent to this shameful ruling". What this statement actually meant was probably not clear to Kostunica himself. He did not stop at that and asked of the European Union to supply to the Serbian government a rationale of the court's decision! Most Serbian media assailed at the acquittal ruling for Haradinaj, saying it was completely in line with "the double standards Europe has been applying for two decades" where Serbs are the only "bad guys abusing the others, the good ones". The media that always deploy sensationalism reported in large letters about "monstrous trade in human body parts, vital organs of Serbs imprisoned and murdered in camps throughout Albania", citing from the latest book by ex ICTY prosecutor, Carla Del Ponte, those parts in which the author says she had heard rumors about it, but never found a single evidence to support them...
