Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is an attempt to demonstrate the mechanism of the books promotion on television. For this purpose I used the chosen episodes of a television program about books “Książki z górnej półki” (ang. Books from the top shelf). The work is based on the achievements of linguistics. Analyzes examined the verbal layer of that program, and more specifically, the introductory sections of evaluative statements conducting by the host of the program.
