Summary/Abstract: The development of an innovative economy is undoubtedly associated with technological breakthroughs. One of the most important in recent years was the isolation of graphene in 2004 [Geim, Novoselov 2014], which was the basis for the 2010 Nobel Prize in physics. Graphene is a two-dimensional material whose structure resembles a honeycomb, thanks to which this carbon material has completely unique characteristics. There are two basic types of graphene that differ in the methods of obtaining it, features and potential applications: epitaxial (intended mainly for electronics) and flakes (for a very wide range of applications). The aim of the article is to indicate the basic economic reasons for the commercialization of graphene flakes.
