Summary/Abstract: Hebrew epitaphs in the early modern period have a formalized structure composed of the following fixed elements: exordium, encomium, lament, informative part and final exhortation. Since XIX century, such inscriptions have been one of the most essential sources for Jewish genealogy scientists. The present study is devoted to only informative part of the epitaphs’ structure, which is vital for genealogical studies. The source basis is a repertory of 284 epitaphs from 1541-1830 gathered by the author from tombstones located in the Jewish cemetery in Lublin (from the oldest known tombstone up to these dating to the end of functioning of the cemetery), preserved and not preserved (including known only from photographs and estreats dressed by different scientists since XIX century). The article includes also the list of the epigraphs and persons mentioned on them. The text plays a role of an example of the scrutiny of particular categories of epitaphs’ informative parts. There are the following categories: 1) marking kinship and affinity, 2) names, 3) defining kinship/ affinity by names’ suffixes, 4) defining personal data by acronyms, 5) family title, 6) byname and nicknames, 7) a work’s author, 8) place names, 9) front matter (including: 9.1. men titles, epithets in the form of titles, functions performed; 9.1.1. titles of office, posts, Qahal and sub-Qahal functions; 9.1.2. titles defining religious education level and courtesy titles; 9.2. women titles), 10) age and marital status, 11) date and circumstances of death, 12) other pieces of information, 13) intertextual eulogia.
