Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to presenting the court career of the younger brother of Archbishop Andrzej Róża Borzyszowski (d. 1510), Zawisza Róża from Borzyszowice (d. 1497), who was one of the closest collaborators of John I Albert (reigned in 1492-1501). Zawisza Róża from Borzyszowice was a representative of a family associated with the Jagiellon dynasty since the reign of its founder, King Władysław Jagiełło. His father, Mikołaj Róża from Borzyszowice, was the royal chef in the years 1432-1454 at the manors of Władysław Jagiełło, Władysław of Varna and Casimir IV Jagiellon and then he became the superior of the court of Queen Elizabeth Habsburg, the wife of Casimir IV Jagiellon. Zawisza Róża began his court service in 1471 with the participation in the coronation expedition of the eldest son of Casimir Jagiellon, prince Vladislaus II to Prague. Subsequently, Zawisza served at the royal court of Casimir IV Jagiellon, and from 1487 he became part of the royal court of John I Albert and became one of the most trusted courtiers of the successor to the Polish throne. Zawisza Róża from Borzyszowice took part in the defense of Rus against Tatar invasions and in the battles of Prince John I Albert for the Hungarian crown in 1490-1492. After the coronation of John I Albert to the King of Poland (23IX 1492), Zawisza Róża Borzyszowski was the first royal courtier who was promoted to the court office (1 I 1493, the appointment has the office of an ensign). Then in 1494 he became a royal chamberlain (nomination on 30 August 1494). Zawisza Róża from Borzyszowice belonged to the nearest royal environs, watched over the chambers of the ruler and his security. He was also responsible for the royal dressing room. The court career of Zawisza Róża Borzyszowic was stopped by his death. The younger brother of the Archbishop of Lviv Andrzej Róża Borzyszowski, later primate, probably died during the expedition of Moldovan king John I Albert in 1497.
